"BLACK ENOUGH"

Washington, DC (PoliticalJones.com) Are you Black Enough?  It is truly funny how things are in America.

The question, "What is Blackness?" has always lead to interesting and heated debates.  Is it a state of mind, a culture or a way of life?

For Senator Barack Obama, it has been a question he must constantly answer.  He faces questions of his ethnic authenticity both within and outside of the Black Community.

The question concerning his racial makeup has opened a wound that runs deep within our community.  How are the descendants of freed African slaves called African Americans, yet the ethnic background of the Son of an African Immigrant is questioned?

What will it take to be Black Enough?  Does he have to disown his White mother?  Does marrying a Strong African American Woman, whom I refer to as SAAW, give him a Black card?   In America, let’s not fool ourselves; race will always be an issue.   Our country’s enslavement of Africans defines the entire fabric of America.

For Senator Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle and their family, his blackness is not an issue.

For me, as a big Black Southern Man, race and color have never been an issue.  I am comfortable and clear on how the world views me.

Race, and what it means to be BLACK will continue to be an issue in America.  In this world, you cannot pick the color of your skin.  It is the experiences of your life that define you as a person or group of people.

So are you BLACK enough?
